  1. Three Simple Fixes for Your Roof

    Posted on July 14th, 2014

Simple Fixes-As a homeowner, you want to be sure your roof adequately protects your home. If it doesn’t, serious and expensive damage may occur. At Circle H Roofing,we are very experienced at diagnosing and fixing roofing problems as well as installing new ones. However, we recognize many people are watching their budgets and may want to attempt to correct any roof problems themselves, if feasible. If you want to try and repair your roof yourself, these simple fixes can be accomplished with some effort and caution.
    Re-Seal Skylights

Sometimes the source of a roofing leak can be a skylight. The leaking may be the result of old or improperly installed flashing. Other leaks can be caused by improper insulation which results in pooling condensation dripping into a home. Simple fixes that may correct both of these issues include removing any cracking roof tar and old shingles around the skylight, and then installing new metal flashing. Excluding the roof, other areas around a home that may be the source of leaks are windows and siding.
    Use Quality Roofing Products

Using quality roofing products when repairing or installing a roof is a very proactive way to prevent future leaks and roof repair. Some of the best brands come with warranties that can range anywhere from 25-50 years. They may cost more upfront, but can save money and time in the long run.
    Seal Plumbing Jacks

Plumbing jacks are attachments installed around drains and ventilation pipes to prevent water from leaking into a house. Their seals typically don’t last as long as shingles and often need to be repaired at some point. They can be fixed with a coat of roofing cement or silicone around the plumbing seal.

    Roof Inspection

Even the most responsible home owner is unlikely to spend a lot of time thinking about the intricacies of getting a roof inspection. However, roof inspections from a reliable provider such as Circle H Roofing & Construction, LLC Roofing are an essential part of keeping your home safe and preventing costly repairs later on. The frequency with which you should get your room inspected varies depending upon the climate where you live and other environmental concerns, though it is generally a good idea to schedule a roof inspection with an expert Fort Worth, TX roofer before buying a new property.
    Issues Your Roof May Face

There is a wide variety of issues that a roof inspection can detect. Many of these are structural and related to the integrity and strength of the roof. A good inspection will also look for termites and other pests that can infest the beams and other components of the roof.

An inspection is also good for getting to the root of unusual problems your roof may be facing. For example, a family in Prescott, Arizona began noticing strange black stains on their roof. They feared the worst, and thought expensive repairs or even a full roof replacement might be in the future. However, the stains were the bi-product of a harmless moss. Getting rid of the moss did not require making any changes to the roof, but rather involved the relatively simple task of cutting back overhanging tree branches that provided a shady environment for the stains to spread.
